Designed and illustrated for Solma Grow, a family-owned Dubai brand crafting eco-friendly, locally-inspired educational toys that connect kids to the unique culture and nature of the UAE. “Day in the Desert” is a core piece in their vibrant puzzle lineup. The objective was to design a premium, turnkey product—from initial sketches to print-ready packaging files that serves as both an engaging educational tool and a standout gift on retail shelves.

The Challenge: Solma Grow needed to expand their product line with a puzzle celebrating the UAE's desert heritage. The design had to appeal to children aged 3-8 and their parents, stand out in a competitive e-commerce landscape (like Amazon), and feature a unique structural packaging shape (a desert tent/house silhouette) that makes the box itself feel like a collectible toy.
The Solution: I developed the project completely from scratch ("turnkey" approach): sketching original character illustrations, designing the complex layout for the custom-shaped box, and preparing final production-ready files. The rich red packaging features bilingual typography (English/Arabic) and playful desert scenes with local wildlife, perfectly tailored for the Middle Eastern market while maintaining global appeal.
Market Impact: Successfully released and currently selling in Dubai, the "Day in the Desert" puzzle solidified Solma Grow's brand presence. The eye-catching custom box shape and vibrant illustrations ensure strong shelf impact in local UAE retail stores and excellent thumbnail pop for online sales.
From the first pencil sketch to the final production files and 3D mockups, this project was built with retail reality in mind. It perfectly complements the "Day at the Beach" puzzle, establishing a cohesive, recognizable, and joyful visual identity for the entire Solma Grow product line.
